DGL Ultra / Nature's Way Deglycylated Licorice is derived from licorice root extract. The product contains the patented GutGard® extract.

Gutgard  is an innovative and clinically tested, bioactive product with a positive effect on the digestive tract. The flavonoid-rich licorice root extract differs from the standard deglycylated extract (DGL) in composition, production process, physicochemical properties and mechanisms of action.

Gutgard® is extracted through a gentle extraction process that helps capture the plant's bioactive flavonoid chemistry. In contrast, the standard DGL extract does not contain a large amount of flavonoids. Gutgard® is standardized and contains ≥10% total flavonoids and ≤0.5% glycine. In this way, unwanted side effects, such as high blood pressure, are prevented.

Gutgard® contains more than 50 flavonoids. Their positive effects on problems in the digestive tract have been scientifically proven. The extract has been clinically tested and its efficacy is much higher at significantly lower doses than regular DGL.
