What is the thymus gland?
The thymus gland is a small organ located under the breastbone. The main function of the thymus is to produce the hormone thymosin. It is responsible for stimulating the production of T-lymphocytes or T-cells. These "killer" cells, key players in the immune system, help prevent infection in the body. After being produced in the thymus, T cells travel the distance to the lymph nodes where they fight inflammation. The effectiveness of thymus function declines gradually with age and, if its peak is before the age of 20, then by about the 40th anniversary, productivity drops significantly, T cells lose their potency, and the gland itself becomes fatty and connective tissue.
To maintain these functions of the thymus gland, which fade over time, an additional intake of supplements is required to promote its activity.
