Physiological effects

• Hyaluronic acid is a natural substance produced by skin cells and is found in great abundance in young skin (both the epidermis and dermis) where it keeps skin youthful, supple, elastic, smooth, hydrated and toned and also works as a natural skin moisturiser.
• Hyaluronic acid binds into water molecules, holding up to 1,000 times its weight in moisture. In the ageing-process, skin cells reduce their ability to synthesize optimal amounts of hyaluronic acid, and this contributes skin ageing. By the age  of 50, people are estimated to have less than half of the hyaluronic acid they had in their youth.
