Xylitol is a naturally occurring sweetener found in many berries and fruits and is also produced naturally in the body during glucose metabolism. Industrially, xylitol is commonly produced from birch fiber, which is why it is often referred to as birch sugar.

Xylitol belongs to the sugar alcohol family and contains approximately 40% fewer calories than traditional sugar. It is widely known as a tooth-friendly sweetener and contributes to the maintenance of tooth mineralization.
